Finishing Salt with Native Pepperberry

$9.00$18.00

The pepperberry (Tasmannia lanceolata) is a Tasmanian native alternative to traditional black pepper. The berries have a hot and sweet peppery taste that lingers on the taste buds. They have a totally unique, spicy and “bitey” flavour that cannot be replicated by any other spice. After being hand-picked, the berries are dried and roughly ground. In this blend it is mixed with sea salt harvested on the East coast of Tasmania.

ingredients

Tasmanian sea salt (80%), Tasmanian native pepperberry (20%)

how to use

Finishing salts add a delicious burst of colour, flavour and texture to any dish – savoury or sweet. Just a simple sprinkle can take your culinary creation from ordinary to extraordinary. Use less salt (or no salt) in the preparation of your foods. Add a sprinkle to your finished product or plated dish.

best with

The sea salt and pepperberry blend is perfect on anything you would normally use traditional salt and pepper – just about everything in other words! Keep it on the table.

Why not be adventurous and try it in a sweet dish: sea salt and native pepperberry chocolate shortbread

care guide

Our 100% natural salt blends don’t contain any artificial flavours or colours. Commercial salts and spices usually contain flowing agents, minerals, or anti-caking agents. Our finishing salts do not. Because of this some clumping may occur over time. If it does, add some dry rice to the jar or bag. Or dry the salt, spread out, in the oven at its lowest temperature setting (or, even better, dehydrator if you have one).

A family favourite. Our got to for beef and lamb when barbecuing. Helps to keep the meat moist and tender with light pepper berry flavour.

Native pepperberry has completely replaced regular pepper in my kitchen, and I couldn’t be happier! The flavor is so much more complex—it’s spicy, aromatic, and has a subtle hint of sweetness that makes it incredibly versatile.

I use it on everything: from seasoning meats and roasted veggies to sprinkling it over pasta, eggs, and even avocado toast. Its bold, unique flavor brings dishes to life in a way regular pepper just can’t match.

Another plus is how beautifully it complements both savory and sweet recipes. I’ve even added a pinch to dark chocolate desserts for a surprising and delightful kick.

If you’re looking to elevate your cooking with something different, I can’t recommend native pepperberry enough. It’s a pantry must-have for anyone who loves experimenting with bold and exciting flavors!
