The pepperberry (Tasmannia lanceolata) is native to Tasmania. Commonly known as Tasmanian pepperberry, mountain pepper and native pepper.
The berries have a sweet peppery taste that lingers on the taste buds. They have a totally unique, spicy and “bitey” flavour that cannot be replicated by any other spice. Versatile, nutritious and extremely high in anti-oxidants. They can be used anywhere you’d use traditional black pepper.
Pepperberry is available in whole dried berries, crushed dried berries, and finely ground dried berries.

Simone –
Pepper berries with personality!
I have been waiting to try Tassie pepper berries for as long as I can remember, hence I was so pleased when I stumbled across this unexpected offering at the Launceston markets.
Once home I experimented with them in all manner of concoctions. My current go to sees it being combined it with their Strawberry gum blend to create a beautiful marinade for my homemade feta. It sits so well beside the delicate fruity qualities of the strawberry gum and saltiness of the feta!
It also works well in cold drinks.
I add just a few during the secondary ferment of my green tea kombucha. It’s kind of reminiscent of infusing gin with juniper berries, but these lovelies have far more personality!
